Una startup al servicio de los datos

La información es poder, pero un exceso de ella se convierte en un problema. Aunque no para todo el mundo. Marc Serra Majem y Juan Ramón González vieron en el gran volumen de datos que deben procesar las empresas en tiempo real una oportunidad de negocio. “Detectamos esta necesidad no cubierta del mercado desde Mática Partners, una empresa cofundada por ambos que emplea a 70 personas, y decidimos crear otra startup para esta nueva área de negocio”, explica Serra.

Dentro aún de Mática Partners, los emprendedores realizaron una prueba de concepto que contó con una ayuda de 450.000 euros del Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico y la Innovación de España (CDTI) más 150.000 euros de recursos propios. Tras unos dos años de desarrollo, el resultado fue una herramienta que “filtra la información, pero sin ser un cuello de botella”, explica llanamente el cofundador. Para comercializar la herramienta, a inicios del 2021 se constituyó la startup Aqtiva Data Technologies, que en la actualidad opera bajo el nombre comercial Omma Data. En el accionariado figuran Mática Partners, Marc Serra Majem, Juan Ramón González y Astrid Camprubí. La cofundadora, quien entró como directora ejecutiva, ya no se encuentra en el equipo directivo.



La empresa prevé crecer un 20% este año

“Ayudamos a las compañías a hacer un uso responsable de los datos, garantizando que la información es correcta y que los resultados que obtienen de la misma no dará indicadores o resultados erróneos”, explica Marc Serra. Se trata de datos financieros, de recursos humanos o del público de las empresas. Los clientes de Omma Data son principalmente multinacionales “porque son las primeras que han tenido que enfrentarse a los datos”, señala el emprendedor. Entre los clientes se encuentran Randstad, Parques Reunidos, Vocento o Zurich-Santander Seguros. Operan en España y América Latina y los fundadores están buscando un socio con quien aterrizar en el mercado estadounidense. De forma paralela, la startup ha ganado otra ayuda del CDTI de cerca de 350.000 euros para evolucionar su herramienta y que sea capaz de determinar si un dato es incorrecto y encontrar el origen del error.

Con sede en Barcelona, donde comparte espacio con Mática Partners, Omma Data emplea a nueve personas contando a los socios fundadores. En el 2023, la facturación de la empresa emergente fue de 90.000 euros y los emprendedores prevén crecer un 20% este año, hasta los 110.000 euros de cifra de negocio.
